Jaipur : An Ex-servicemen rally to celebrate 8th Armed Forces Veterans Day on 14 January 24 was organised by South Western Command at Alwar, Rajasthan.
On behalf of Sapta Shakti Command, Lieutenant General Nagendra Singh, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Yudh Seva Medal, Sena Medal, General Officer Commanding Chetak Corps extended a warm welcome to the veterans at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Alwar to honour them and their Next of Kin for the selfless service and sacrifice for the Nation. The event saw an enthusiastic participation by approximately 5800 retired soldiers & families from various parts of Rajasthan. The Veterans and Veer Naris were facilitated by the Chief Guest Lieutenant General Nagendra Singh, General Officer Commanding, Chetak Corps.
The event saw participation by representatives of Directorate of Indian Army Veterans, Army Welfare Placement Organisation, Defence Pension Disbursing Office and Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme. Their representatives informed all attendees about various schemes extended by the respective agencies towards the welfare of the Ex-servicemen. A number of issues were also clarified and grievances of the veterans were addressed.
In addition, various banks participated by putting up their stalls and educating the veterans on various benefits provided by the banks. Various awareness stalls by Civil Administration were also placed which educated the Ex-servicemen & their dependents about various government schemes. The Ex-servicemen were also briefed on SPARSH software in detail, with distribution of handouts on SPARSH. The attendees expressed their satisfaction and gratitude to the Nation for continuous care of the Veteran Community.
