Insomniac detailed the new features in the release notes for version 1,002,000 on Thursday, confirming that the update is now available to PS5 users. The highlight is of course the New Game+ mode. In this mode, players who complete the game can immediately return to the story with all of their skills and equipment upgrades.
NG+’s Spider-Man 2 features an ultimate level that allows players to exceed the base game’s level cap. The update also adds new Spider-Man costumes, including two new costumes inspired by Peter and Miles’ Hellfire Gala designs. The two heroes also receive two new costumes as part of the Fly N’ Fresh Suit Pack. These are paid suits that can be purchased for $4.99. Insomniac Games also admitted in a post on Thursday that the update will give some players access to the developer menu, potentially corrupting save files and trophy progression. “We are aware that the latest game update may have inadvertently enabled access to the game’s development menu. An immediate resolution is in the works,” the studio said.
However, it has been reported that some players have gone through the developer options and pointed out missions that are not in the game, which could indicate upcoming DLC. Although Insomniac has not yet confirmed any story-based expansions for the game, Spider-Man 2 has several open story threads that could be explored later in the DLC. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2018 also added an expanded story titled “The City That Never Sleeps.”
Players can now download the latest update 1,002,000 on PS5. Insomniac says the second update will arrive shortly after the first, and players will need to download both to access all of the new features.
