Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh: A stampede broke out at the Ausaneshwar Mahadev Temple in Barabanki on the third Monday of Sawan, leading to the tragic deaths of two devotees on the spot. Twenty-nine others, including women and children, were injured in the incident. The stampede reportedly occurred around 2 AM during the Jalabhishek ritual, following the sudden spread of an electric current in the temple premises.

Temple Located 40 km from District Headquarters
The Ausaneshwar Temple is located 40 kilometres from the Barabanki district headquarters. As soon as authorities received information about the incident, a large police force was deployed to the site. The injured were immediately sent by ambulance to Haidergarh and Trivediganj Community Health Centres (CHCs), while those with serious injuries were referred to the district hospital for further treatment.
Live Wire Fell on Tin Shed, Caused Panic
District Magistrate Shashank Tripathi stated that a few monkeys jumped onto an electric wire, causing it to break and fall onto the tin shed in the temple premises. This led to the electric current spreading through the area, resulting in chaos and a stampede-like situation.
It is noteworthy that a similar stampede took place on Sunday morning at the Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar, where eight people lost their lives and over 30 were injured.
