Udaipur, September 19 (Udaipur Kiran): In another horrifying incident, a minor girl was killed in a leopard attack in Undithal village under Gogunda police station area on Thursday morning. The leopard dragged the girl into the jungle and mauled her hand. The girl’s face, back, and chest were also severely injured. Her body was found nearly four kilometers deep in the dense forest. The search for the girl had been underway since Wednesday.
Gogunda SHO Shaitan Singh Nathawat said that around 12:30 pm on Wednesday, Kamala (16), daughter of Ambalal Kapyaya, had gone to graze cattle in the jungle of Undithal village. When she did not return home late at night, her family became worried. They searched for the child with the help of villagers throughout the night but to no avail. In the morning, the family and villagers reached the jungle to search and found the body. Nathawat said that the family informed the police only after the body was found. After the incident, the villagers have demanded that a cage be set up in the area to capture the leopard. A team from the forest department reached the spot and conducted an investigation. As the body was found four kilometers deep in the jungle, no ambulance or vehicle could go there. Therefore, the body was brought out on foot.
The girl’s father, Ambalal Kapyaya, is a farmer and laborer. Kamala was the youngest daughter. Her two elder sisters were married. Meanwhile, the villagers are terrified after the incident. Eleven days ago, on September 8, 2024, a leopard had attacked and killed a woman in the Kirat Forest area of Jhadol. The woman, Mirabai, a resident of Magwas, had gone to collect firewood in the forest. There, a leopard hiding in the bushes made her its prey. On receiving information, the forest department and Jhadol police station reached the spot. When they searched for the woman in the forest, her body was found lying in the bushes. Her torso and head were found separately, about 12 feet apart.
