Udaipur, April 25 (Udaipur Kiran): Surajpol police have arrested two accused within 24 hours for allegedly molesting a student near Delhi Gate in Udaipur.

DSP Suryaveer Singh Rathore said the accused were identified after scanning CCTV footage from the incident spot. The arrested persons have been identified as Shaleen Meena, son of Govind Singh Meena, a resident of Govardhan Vilas, and Omprakash Dangi, son of Dhanraj Dangi, a resident of Loyra Badgaon.
During the police raid, the accused tried to flee towards the forest area of Machla Magra near Doodh Talai after spotting the police. One of them fell while escaping and suffered a leg fracture.
Police said Shaleen Meena is a history-sheeter at Govardhan Vilas police station, with 11 cases registered against him, including assault and attempt to murder.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred on Friday evening when the student was returning from coaching classes. Two men started following her, passed objectionable remarks, and attempted to stop her and hold her hand. The student managed to escape by running towards a traffic police personnel stationed nearby. On seeing the policeman, both accused fled on a scooter.
A case was registered based on the student’s complaint, and the accused were traced using the scooter number provided by her.
Police have appealed to women to report such incidents promptly and advised calling the women helpline 1090 or emergency numbers 100/112 in case of any emergency.
