PBKS Achieves Historic IPL Chase Against DC

New Delhi, April 25: The Punjab Kings (PBKS) made history at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium by successfully chasing down a target of 265 runs against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 35th match of IPL 2026 on Saturday. This remarkable achievement marks the highest run chase in IPL history.

The PBKS batsmen reached the target in just 18.5 overs, losing four wickets in the process. Previously, the record for the highest run chase was also held by Punjab Kings, who chased down 262 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024.

Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh provided a fantastic start for PBKS, putting together a partnership of 126 runs for the first wicket in just 6.5 overs. During the powerplay, they scored a combined total of 116 runs. Priyansh scored 43 runs off 17 balls, hitting 2 fours and 5 sixes, while Prabhsimran played a stunning innings of 76 runs off just 26 balls, reaching his half-century in 18 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes.

Cooper Connolly contributed 17 runs off 10 balls, and captain Shreyas Iyer showcased excellent form, remaining unbeaten on 71 runs off 36 balls with a strike rate of 197. Iyer hit 3 fours and 7 sixes, leading his team to victory. Nehal Wadhera added 25 runs off 15 balls, while Shashank Singh remained not out with 19 runs off 10 balls.

Earlier, the Delhi Capitals set a formidable target by scoring 264 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in their 20 overs, marking their highest score in IPL history. KL Rahul starred for DC with a phenomenal innings of 152 runs off 67 balls, becoming the Indian batsman with the highest score in IPL history. He struck 16 fours and 9 sixes, while Nitish Rana contributed a solid 91 runs off 44 balls.
