Glasgow, July 29: Indian boxers continue to shine at the Commonwealth Games 2026, with Jadamani Singh securing another medal for the country by reaching the semifinals. Jadamani expressed his determination to win the gold medal.
In the quarterfinals, Jadamani delivered an impressive performance in the 55-kilogram category, defeating Zambia’s Mwengo Mwale decisively with a score of 5-0. He landed a series of punches, leaving his opponent with no chance to recover. This victory not only secured his place in the semifinals but also guaranteed at least a bronze medal for India.
Speaking exclusively to Udaipur Kiran after his quarterfinal win, Jadamani said, “This is my first Commonwealth Games, and I am very happy to win a medal. My opponent was a strong boxer with good power and delivered heavy punches; therefore, I watched his videos throughout the day to understand how to approach the match. I discussed strategies with my coaches on how to compete against this boxer, and our analysis proved successful in this bout.”
Jadamani further added, “When I came to participate in the Commonwealth Games 2026 from India, I had already decided that I would not just win a medal but would aim for the gold medal. I will dedicate this medal to my uncle, the Boxing Federation of India, the Sports Authority of India (SAI), my country, and my coaches.”
On the sixth day of the Commonwealth Games 2026, India has secured three medals in boxing. Alongside Jadamani, Preeti Pawar and Priya Ghanghas have also reached the semifinals, ensuring at least a bronze medal for the country.
