Udaipur, August 8, 2026: A woman was killed after being run over by a Scorpio while allegedly trying to stop a group of people who had gone to a young man’s house and started pelting stones at his house and car amid an ongoing rivalry between two groups in Udaipur’s Pratap Nagar police station area.
According to police, a long-standing dispute has been going on between Yashpratap Singh, son of Bhupendra Singh Chundawat, a resident of Nandsa, Gangapur in Bhilwara and currently living in Udaipur, and Yashpal Singh Jhala, a resident of Meenada in Chittorgarh and currently living in Mali Colony. Yashpratap Singh’s friend Divyaraj Singh is also involved in the dispute. The two groups had a confrontation on Friday afternoon, after which they separated.
Group Reaches Divyaraj Singh’s House
Police said Yashpratap Singh and his associates had gone to Yashpal Singh’s rental car office at Subcity Centre in the afternoon. Yashpal Singh came to know about the incident after the group had created a commotion and left the office.
Following this, Yashpal Singh, along with his associates Yashvardhan Singh, Vishal Sharma of Bedwas, Yashvardhan Singh Chundawat alias Goti of Shobhji Ka Kheda, and Narendra Singh Jaitawat alias Chintu of Bhaisrana, among 8-10 others, allegedly travelled in a Scorpio, Scorpio-N and Thar and reached Divyaraj Singh’s house in Kapil Vihar.
As soon as they reached the house, they allegedly started pelting stones at the car parked outside. Four to five men allegedly got down from the Scorpio and began damaging the car with sticks.
Woman Stands in Front of Scorpio, Dies After Being Run Over
Seeing the incident, Urmila Kunwar, 52, wife of Fateh Singh Gaud, a resident of Godon Ka Kheda, Kanod, and currently living in Kapil Vihar, Pratap Nagar, came out of the house.
According to police, after seeing the woman coming outside, the accused got into the Scorpio and started fleeing. Urmila Kunwar then stood in front of the Scorpio in an attempt to stop it.
The accused allegedly did not stop the vehicle and instead hit the woman. She was run over and dragged for around seven to eight feet before the Scorpio left the spot.
A large number of people gathered at the spot following the incident. The injured woman was immediately taken to a private hospital, where she died during treatment.
Police Register Case, Search for Accused Underway
After receiving information about the vandalism and the woman being run over, Pratap Nagar police station officer Ajay Singh Rao, along with police personnel, reached the spot.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras. Police placed the deceased woman’s body in the mortuary and registered a case against the accused.
