The left-handed batsman completed his half-century in just 27 balls, breaking the previous record held by Iftikhar Ahmed, who scored a fifty in 32 balls against India in 2022.
In this record list, Misbah-ul-Haq ranks third, having reached fifty in 33 balls against India in 2017, while Virat Kohli scored a half-century in 34 balls against Pakistan in 2016. Gautam Gambhir achieved this feat in 38 balls against Pakistan in 2007.
Outside of the T20 World Cup, the record for the fastest fifty in T20 matches between the two countries belongs to Mohammad Hafeez, who scored a fifty in 23 balls against India in 2012. Abhishek follows in second place with a fifty in 24 balls during a match in 2025, while Ishan Kishan now ranks third. Yuvraj Singh had scored a fifty in 29 balls against Pakistan in 2012.
