April 2, Lucknow – Punjab Kings delivered a powerful performance at the Ekana Stadium on Tuesday, defeating Lucknow Super Giants by eight wickets to secure their second win of the season in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. With this victory, Punjab climbed to second place in the points table with four points.

Prabhsimran, Shreyas Iyer Lead Punjab’s Chase
Chasing a target of 172, Punjab Kings started strong before losing opener Priyansh Arya in the third over for 8 runs. However, Prabhsimran Singh and captain Shreyas Iyer stabilized the innings with a match-defining partnership. Prabhsimran played an aggressive knock of 69 runs before falling, but Iyer carried on the momentum.
Nehal Wadhera joined his skipper at the crease and the duo ensured Punjab crossed the finish line with ease, completing the chase in just 16.2 overs. Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 52, while Wadhera scored an impressive 43* as the visitors chased down the total with 22 balls to spare.
Digvijay Rathore was the only bowler from Lucknow who made an impact, picking both wickets for his side.
Lucknow Falter After Early Collapse
Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants struggled after losing Mitchell Marsh for a duck in the opening over. Captain Rishabh Pant (2) and Aiden Markram (28) also departed early, leaving Lucknow reeling at 34/3 by the fifth over.
Nicholas Pooran (44) and Ayush Badoni (41) stitched a 54-run partnership to rescue the innings, while cameos from David Miller (19) and Abdul Samad (27) helped Lucknow post a competitive 171/7 in 20 overs.
Punjab’s bowling was led by Arshdeep Singh, who took 3 key wickets. Supporting him, Lockie Ferguson, Glenn Maxwell, Marco Jansen, and Yuzvendra Chahal chipped in with one wicket each.
