Ahmedabad, March 29 – In the ninth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, Gujarat Titans secured a commanding 36-run victory over Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Mumbai, led by Hardik Pandya, remains winless in the tournament, suffering their second straight loss.

Gujarat Titans Set Competitive 196-Run Total
After losing the toss, Gujarat Titans were sent in to bat first by Mumbai. Openers Shubman Gill (38 off 27) and Sai Sudharsan (63 off 41) provided a solid start, stitching together a 78-run stand for the first wicket. Sudharsan went on to notch his eighth IPL half-century, anchored by four boundaries and two sixes.
Following Gill’s dismissal, Jos Buttler (39) joined Sudharsan to add 51 valuable runs before falling to the Mumbai bowling attack. Contributions from Sherfane Rutherford (18) and Kagiso Rabada (7 not out) pushed Gujarat’s total to a competitive 196/7 in 20 overs.
Mumbai Batting Falters Despite Middle-Order Resistance
Chasing 197, Mumbai Indians stumbled early, losing openers Rohit Sharma (8) and Ryan Rickelton (6) cheaply. While Tilak Varma (33) and Suryakumar Yadav (32) attempted a fightback with a 62-run partnership, the middle and lower order failed to maintain momentum.
Skipper Hardik Pandya (11) couldn’t make a meaningful impact, and despite some late resilience from Naman Dhir (18)* and *Mitchell Santner (18)**, Mumbai managed just 160/8, falling short by 36 runs.
Gujarat Bowlers Seal the Victory
Gujarat’s bowling unit was clinical, with Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna taking two wickets each, while Rabada and Sai Kishore chipped in with a wicket apiece. Their disciplined line and length kept Mumbai’s batters under pressure throughout the innings.
