Imran Khan Hospitalized Again Amid Health Concerns

Islamabad, June 16: Former Prime Minister of Pakistan and founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has been struggling with eye issues for several months. On Monday, the prison administration took him to the hospital for the fifth time for treatment. His family has raised questions regarding the government’s intentions in this matter.

Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, stated on Tuesday that she has no trust in the information provided by the government. She shared on the social media platform X that she learned on the morning of June 15 that Imran Khan had been taken once again to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

She alleged that the hospital had previously made “dubious claims” about Imran Khan’s condition, including statements that his vision had improved by 90%, which he himself has denied.

Aleema Khan questioned why Imran Khan needed an injection for the fifth time and demanded that his treatment be conducted by independent and qualified specialists at Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad.

She also claimed that the government is violating their rights and that, despite court orders, the family has not been allowed regular visits with him.

Aleema Khan asserted that the court had permitted six family members to meet Imran Khan every Tuesday, but this order has not been followed for several months. According to jail regulations, Imran Khan has several rights, including regular family visits, contact with lawyers, access to books and news, and adequate medical facilities, but these rights are not being upheld.

According to the prominent English daily Dawn, the hospital administration reported that Imran Khan was brought to PIMS on Monday for follow-up treatment, where he received another anti-VEGF injection for his eye condition. Doctors have declared him medically stable.

Imran Khan’s eye issues first emerged at the end of January, and he has received multiple injections since then.

This issue has sparked a back-and-forth of accusations between the government and the opposition, with the latter claiming that Imran Khan is not receiving proper treatment and transparent medical care, while the government continues to dismiss these allegations.
