Jaipur, October 31 (Udaipur Kiran): In a major breakthrough, the Bhiwadi Police have arrested Jaanu Mev (50), son of Dhannu, a wanted criminal carrying a reward of ₹7,500, who had been absconding for the last 20 years. A resident of Tigaon in Mewat, Jaanu was the prime accused in a 2005 copper-laden truck robbery case under Tijara police station.

The arrest was made under a special operation launched on the instructions of Jaipur Range IG Rahul Prakash and Bhiwadi SP Prashant Kiran. The joint team of CDT Tijara and Shekhpur Police Station successfully tracked and captured the fugitive after years of persistent efforts.
The 2005 Copper Loot Case
According to SP Prashant Kiran, in 2005, a complainant named Bahadur had filed an FIR at Tijara Police Station, stating that he was transporting copper bundles from Alwar to Delhi in a Tata 709 vehicle. Near Salarpur, a group of armed men stopped his truck by blocking the road with another vehicle. They tied up the driver and helper, dumped them in a nearby field, and fled with the entire copper consignment.
Since then, the main accused Jaanu Mev had been evading arrest, continuously shifting locations and misleading police teams for two decades.
Strategic Operation and Arrest
Following SP Kiran’s directive to trace long-pending offenders involved in loot, murder, and dacoity cases, a special strategy was formulated to nab Jaanu. The police team camped in the Mewat region for an extended period, gathering intelligence and even adopting local Mewati attire to blend in during the surveillance operation.
On October 30, the joint team received a tip-off that Jaanu was hiding in Firozpur Jhirka. Acting swiftly, the police raided the location and successfully apprehended the absconding criminal. He has since been handed over to Tijara Police for further legal proceedings.
Team Effort Acknowledged
The operation was conducted under the leadership of Shekhpur Aheer SHO Lokesh, with significant contributions from Head Constable Om Prakash (CDT Tijara) and Constable Mehboob (Shekhpur Aheer Police Station).
SP Prashant Kiran praised the team’s dedication and strategic planning, terming the arrest a notable achievement in reviving and solving long-pending criminal cases in the district.
