Ahmedabad, May 13: The Gujarat Government has made significant changes in the state administration by transferring and appointing 72 IAS officers late Tuesday night. According to a notification issued by the General Administration Department on May 13, this extensive administrative reshuffle affects district administration, municipal corporations, urban development bodies, and various departments of the state government. New collectors have been appointed in several key districts including Ahmedabad, Surat, Bharuch, Navsari, Morbi, Dahod, Junagadh, and Kutch, while senior officials have been assigned new responsibilities in Gandhinagar and major urban bodies.
This reshuffle is seen as a crucial step towards making the administrative system more effective and accountable. The notification states that D.N. Modi has been removed from the position of Municipal Commissioner of Jamnagar Municipal Corporation and appointed as Development Commissioner in Gandhinagar. With this appointment, the additional charge held by K.L. Bachani has been terminated.
Anand Baboolal Patel has been transferred from the position of Collector of Kutch-Bhuj to become the School Commissioner. Additionally, he has been assigned the extra charge of the PM-POSHAN Scheme (Mid-Day Meal) Commissioner and the Director of the Gujarat Council of Education Research and Training, a responsibility previously held by Rachit Raj.
Collector Sujit Kumar of Ahmedabad has been transferred and appointed as the Special Commissioner in the State Tax Department, a position previously held by P. Bharti. Similarly, Ajay Prakash has been moved from the position of Director of the Gujarat Energy Development Agency to the Energy and Petrochemicals Department, where he will be appointed as the Managing Director of Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited in Vadodara.
Meanwhile, Surat Collector Dr. Saurabh Pardhi has been appointed as the Director of Civil Supplies in Gandhinagar and as the ex-officio Additional Secretary in the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs, replacing Mayur Mehta. Earlier in March, the state government had also transferred 37 IPS officers and appointed Ashok Kumar Yadav as the new IB Chief.
