Fake Land Deed Case: Mangalwad Sarpanch Arrested for Issuing Forged Land Allotments Using Fake Signatures

Two-Day Police Remand Ordered; Investigation Underway to Uncover Wider Network

Chittorgarh, March 31, 2025: In a major development involving land forgery, the Mangalwad Police have arrested the Sarpanch (Administrator) of Mangalwad, Dhanraj Meena, for allegedly issuing fake land pattas (allotments) using forged signatures of the village development officer. The accused is believed to have fraudulently distributed multiple land deeds by manipulating official patta books and bypassing government protocols.

Fake Land Deed

Forged Signatures and Unauthorized Patta Books

According to Chittorgarh SP Sudhir Joshi, the case stems from a complaint filed on February 3, 2023, by Kuldeep Singh Meena, the Gram Vikas Adhikari (Village Development Officer) of Dungla. The complaint followed an internal review prompted by a directive from the Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Department, Jaipur.

Upon inspection of patta registrations from July to November 2022, officials discovered discrepancies between records from the Sub-Tehsil Office in Mangalwad and the official gram panchayat records. The investigation revealed that several pattas were issued from unauthorized patta books, and all bore forged signatures of the village development officer.

Beneficiaries of these forged pattas include:

  • Shankarlal s/o Bhanwarlal Khatik

  • Manish s/o Chhaganlal Sisodia

  • Dilip s/o Satyanarayan Agrawal

  • Mangilal s/o Ukar Aheer

  • Narayan s/o Bhaira Aheer

  • Sita Bai w/o Hariram Meena

  • Chanda w/o Lalit Bhawsar

None of these land deeds were issued from officially sanctioned books by the Panchayat Samiti Dungla, raising serious concerns over document authenticity and administrative malpractice.

Arrest and Police Action

Acting on the evidence, a special police team led by Station Officer Bhagwanlal and assisted by ASI Jagdish Chandra Sukhwal and other officers, arrested Dhanraj Meena, son of Hariram Meena, resident of Brahmpuri, Mangalwad. The accused was presented before the court and remanded to police custody for two days for further interrogation.
