England-Pakistan T20 Opener Washed Out Due to Rain

New Delhi : The first T20 International between England and Pakistan was abandoned without a ball bowled due to persistent rain at Headingley on Wednesday.

Heavy and lengthy rain in Leeds forced the umpires to call off the match about an hour before the scheduled start at 11 pm IST.

The remaining matches of the four-match series against Pakistan will be played on May 25, 28 and 30 at Edgbaston, Cardiff and The Oval respectively.

Jofra Archer’s return to England’s T20 squad is on the cards for the Pakistan T20 series. Injuries have derailed the paceman’s career, with the 29-year-old being out of top-level cricket for 14 months due to elbow and back problems.
