Rohit Sharma No. 1, Hetmyer Threatens Kohli’s Record in IND vs WI T20Is

New Delhi, October 6, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): India and West Indies are set to begin their five-match T20I series on Tuesday, October 6. The first match will be played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow and will begin at 7 pm IST, with the toss scheduled for 6:30 pm.

Ahead of the series, Rohit Sharma remains the highest run-scorer in T20I matches between India and West Indies. Interestingly, only one player from the current teams features in the top five of the overall list.

Rohit Sharma Leads the Run-Scoring Chart

Rohit Sharma tops the list with 693 runs in 22 matches against West Indies. He scored these runs at an average of 38.50 and a strike rate of 142.88.

Rohit remains the only batter to have crossed the 600-run mark in T20I matches between the two teams. He retired from T20Is after helping India win the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Virat Kohli is third on the list. He scored 570 runs in 14 matches and 13 innings against West Indies at an average of 57.00 and a strike rate of 142.88. Like Rohit, Kohli also retired from T20Is after India’s 2024 T20 World Cup triumph.

Suryakumar Yadav is fourth with 426 runs. Unlike Rohit and Kohli, Suryakumar has not retired from the format. He has been out of the Indian team since the 2026 T20 World Cup after struggling for form.

Two West Indies Players in the Top Five

West Indies have two batters in the top five. Nicholas Pooran is second with 592 runs from 20 matches.

Shimron Hetmyer occupies fifth place with 422 runs and is the only player among the top five who is part of the current series. He enters the series after being in red-hot form in the Caribbean Premier League.

With Hetmyer just 148 runs behind Virat Kohli and four runs behind Suryakumar Yadav, he has an opportunity to move up the list during the five-match series.
