Jaipur, June 6 (Udaipur Kiran): Rajasthan Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma on Saturday chaired a range-level crime review and border security meeting at the Jodhpur Range Office, directing district police chiefs to take stringent action against organized crime and strengthen vigilance in border areas.
The meeting was attended by Jodhpur Range Inspector General of Police Satyendra Singh and Superintendents of Police from Jodhpur Rural, Phalodi, Balotra, Pali, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Sirohi and Jalore districts. Discussions focused on the region’s geographical significance and current security challenges.
Reviewing recent crime trends, the DGP instructed officers to intensify action against organized criminals, particularly those involved in drug trafficking. He directed district police chiefs to identify and dismantle entire narcotics networks, initiate effective legal action against kingpins and take steps to seize properties allegedly acquired through proceeds of crime.
Sharma also emphasized the importance of protecting women, children and vulnerable sections of society. He instructed officers to handle such cases with sensitivity and ensure effective implementation of ongoing campaigns being monitored by the Police Headquarters.
Given the proximity of several Jodhpur Range districts to the international border, the DGP called for heightened vigilance in border areas. He stressed strengthening policing mechanisms, promoting community policing and taking firm action against illegal activities and unlawful infiltration.
During the meeting, Sharma also urged officers to make effective use of the provisions available under the newly implemented criminal laws to strengthen law enforcement and enhance public confidence in policing.
