Jaipur, June 6 (Udaipur Kiran): Baran Police, under the special anti-narcotics campaign being conducted across the Kota Range, have seized 732 grams of smack valued at approximately Rs 1.46 crore in the international market and arrested three alleged drug traffickers, including a father-son duo.
Superintendent of Police Abhishek Andasu said the operation was carried out by Chhipabarod Police under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Dr. Kamal Kumar and Circle Officer Tarachand as part of the special drive running from May 23 to June 20.
During patrol duty near Akhakhedi crossroads, police personnel noticed three men standing with two motorcycles under suspicious circumstances. On seeing the police team, the suspects allegedly attempted to flee but were quickly surrounded and detained.
The accused were identified as Vimal Prakash Mahajan (64), his son Ravi Mittal (36), and Naresh Meena (35), all residents of the Chhipabarod area.
During the search, police recovered 732 grams of illegal smack from the possession of Ravi Mittal and Vimal Prakash. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth around Rs 1.46 crore in the international market. Preliminary examination by forensic and MOB teams confirmed the presence of morphine in the recovered substance.
According to the initial investigation, the accused had allegedly gathered at the spot to finalize a drug deal. Police said Vimal Prakash and Ravi Mittal had arranged the consignment for sale, while Naresh Meena allegedly intended to purchase it.
Police have launched further investigations to identify the source of the narcotics and uncover others connected to the network. The case is being investigated by Chhabra Station House Officer Rajesh Khatana.
Two motorcycles allegedly used in the trafficking operation were also seized during the action.
