Jaipur, October 8 (Udaipur Kiran): The Cyber Crime Police have arrested another key member of an organized gang involved in a ₹23.56 lakh fraud with a 75-year-old Jaipur resident under the pretext of a digital arrest by impersonating police and CBI officials. With this latest arrest, the total number of accused held in the case has risen to seven.

DIG Cyber Crime Vikas Sharma informed that the complainant had lodged a report on May 27 at the Cyber Police Station, Rajasthan, stating that unknown callers posing as police and CBI officers threatened him with a digital arrest and coerced him into transferring ₹23,56,000 to their accounts.
Taking swift action, the Cyber Police earlier arrested Suresh Kumar, Prahlad Kumawat, Omprakash, Bhoopesh, Vashul Sunny Kumar, and Rehan Makandar in connection with the scam.
New Arrest and Investigation Findings
During the investigation, the police traced the beneficiary accounts used to launder the defrauded money. One such account, belonging to Suresh alias Surendra, had received the full amount of ₹23.56 lakh. Further scrutiny revealed that ₹89,335 from the scam was transferred into a juvenile’s bank account, which also received ₹9.58 lakh from other cyber frauds.
The juvenile disclosed that he had sold his bank account, ATM card, and SIM card to Kamlesh Kumar Serawat (22), son of Narayan Lal, resident of Munya Wali Dhani, Bhopawas, Samod, Jaipur, for ₹4,000 commission.
Based on this input, Cyber Police arrested Kamlesh Kumar Serawat on Tuesday. According to DIG Sharma and SP Cyber Crime Shantanu Kumar, Kamlesh’s account has been linked to cyber fraud cases across three states, indicating the gang’s inter-state operations. Interrogation is ongoing to uncover further links.
Public Advisory
Cyber Police have urged citizens to remain alert against calls from individuals posing as police or CBI officers, warning of a “digital arrest.” People are advised not to share bank details or OTPs under any circumstances and to immediately inform police of any suspicious calls.
