Udaipur, August 16: A dispute during the Kanwar Yatra in Udaipur district escalated into violence, resulting in a youth being shot. The police acted swiftly, arresting four suspects in connection with the incident. Illegal weapons and cartridges were also recovered from the accused.
According to police reports, at around 3 AM on August 15, the control room received information about gunfire near the bus stand close to Khedipura village. Upon arrival, the police found a young man named Manjeet injured with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where timely treatment saved his life.
Following the incident, the police registered a case and began an investigation. Later that evening, they received a tip-off about the suspects gathering at a location. Acting on this information, the SHO and his team apprehended all four individuals.
Police stated that one of the arrested suspects was found with a country-made pistol and a live cartridge, while another suspect was also found with similar weapons. Additionally, the vehicle used in the incident has been seized by the authorities.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the entire dispute was related to an argument that occurred during the Kanwar Yatra. The police indicated that the four suspects fired at Manjeet due to ongoing enmity stemming from this altercation.
Currently, Manjeet is receiving treatment at Medanta Hospital, and doctors have reported that his condition is stable and he is out of danger.
The police have announced that all arrested suspects will be presented in court for police remand to facilitate a thorough investigation into the incident and the roles of each suspect. The investigation is ongoing.
