Hyderabad, August 16: BJP leader Manmeet Singh has responded sharply to Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s assertion that the state’s ration card initiative is a local scheme. Singh accused CM Rao of attempting to take credit for central government schemes. He demanded that images of Prime Minister Narendra Modi be displayed in the state’s welfare programs.
In a conversation with a news agency, Singh condemned Congress leader Sonia Gandhi for allegedly disrupting the national song “Vande Mataram” during Independence Day celebrations at Indira Bhavan. He called for unity among citizens.
Singh stated, “Sonia Gandhi has once again insulted our national song. On August 15, as the first stanza of ‘Vande Mataram’ concluded, she requested that the song be stopped. Later, Jairam Ramesh claimed she was asking for a chair for Kharge, while Kharge indicated that the national song should continue.”
He further criticized Rahul Gandhi for his comments suggesting that the national song does not belong to everyone, comparing it to how Jawaharlal Nehru divided the nation. Singh asserted that the national anthem should be sung in full at all national events.
Singh emphasized, “We want to remind Rao that he is the Chief Minister of the state, while Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister of the country. Therefore, both state and central governments contribute to welfare schemes. Regarding the ration card issue, Rao claims that the state government is distributing them, misleading the public.”
He added that the central government provides 79 paise of every rupee allocated for these schemes, yet Rao is portraying the state government as the sole provider. Singh insisted that images of PM Modi should be mandatory in all state offices and welfare programs.
