A major controversy has erupted after Samajwadi Party MP Ramjilal Suman referred to Mewar’s historic ruler Rana Sanga as a “traitor.” The remark has triggered nationwide protests, particularly in Rajasthan, where the Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena has declared a bounty of ₹5.51 lakh for anyone who cuts off the MP’s tongue, escalating tensions further.

Karni Sena Protest in Udaipur

On Thursday, Karni Sena activists gathered in Udaipur to protest against the MP’s statement. The city unit president, Arjun Singh Chundawat, announced the cash reward, warning that if Suman does not publicly apologize, the Samajwadi Party will face aggressive protests across the Mewar region.

Protesters also burned an effigy of the MP outside the District Collectorate and demanded his immediate suspension from Parliament.

Widespread Political Reaction

The controversy has drawn strong responses from several Lok Sabha MPs in Rajasthan:

  • Mahima Kumari Mewar (Rajsamand)

  • C.P. Joshi (Chittorgarh)

  • Dr. Mannalal Rawat (Udaipur)

  • Rao Rajendra Singh (Jaipur Rural)

These leaders raised the issue in Parliament and demanded strict action against Suman for his “historically inaccurate and offensive” remark.

Descendant of Rana Sanga Responds

Hanumant Singh Boheda, a descendant of Rana Sanga, condemned the MP’s statement and emphasized that such remarks are made out of ignorance. He clarified that Rana Sanga never invited Babur to India, but rather, he was a warrior who assembled a powerful army to resist foreign invasions.

Legal and Ethical Concerns

The threat issued by Karni Sena has drawn sharp criticism from legal experts and civil society, who warn that such violent rhetoric can escalate tensions and violate the rule of law. Authorities are yet to confirm whether any legal action will be taken against those making open threats.
