Udaipur, September 17: The ‘Apno Se Apni Baat’ discourse being conducted under the guidance of Narayan Seva Sansthan president Prashant Agrawal concluded on Thursday on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti.
The concluding session highlighted messages related to craftsmanship, work, self-control, service and the positive use of one’s abilities through stories associated with Lord Vishwakarma.
Agrawal said nothing in the world is created on its own. Every creation involves the labour, skill and dedication of craftsmen. He said respecting the hands that create and build is the true spirit of Vishwakarma Puja.
Turning Power into a Force for Welfare
Referring to the story of Lord Vishwakarma, Agrawal said Sanjna was unable to bear the intense radiance of the Sun God. When the problem arose, Vishwakarma did not simply advise her to tolerate it but sought a solution.
He explained that the episode of reducing the Sun God’s radiance and using it to create divine weapons, including the Sudarshan Chakra and Trishul, conveys that instead of destroying a power, it should be used appropriately. The same power can become a means of public welfare when put to the right use.
The Golden Lanka Lesson
Through the story of the Golden Lanka, Agrawal highlighted the need to stay away from greed and attachment.
He said Lord Vishwakarma built the Golden Lanka for Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Ravana, who served as the priest for the house-entry ceremony, asked for Lanka itself as his fee. Lord Shiva honoured his promise and gave Lanka to him.
However, the same golden city later became a symbol of Ravana’s arrogance and destruction. Agrawal said construction is noble, but becoming attached to what one creates can ultimately lead to destruction.
Do Not Laugh When Someone Falls
Narrating the episode of the Maya Sabha from the Mahabharata, Agrawal said laughter after Duryodhana fell deepened his sense of insult and jealousy.
He said people should extend a helping hand rather than laugh when someone falls, as even a small act of bitterness can become the cause of a major dispute.
Agrawal said Vishwakarma Jayanti is not limited to worshipping tools and machines but is an occasion to respect labour and skill. Carpenters, blacksmiths, masons, tailors, potters, goldsmiths and other craftsmen are all creators who contribute to society.
He said that in the same spirit, providing persons with disabilities with artificial limbs and assistive devices to help them become self-reliant is also an effort to rebuild and improve human lives. Such service, he said, gives true meaning to the spirit of Vishwakarma Puja.
