New Delhi, November 4 (Udaipur Kiran): For the first time, a consignment of 12 metric tonnes of Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK) from Chhattisgarh has been exported to Costa Rica.
According to the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, this initiative is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s campaign for a “Malnutrition-Free India.” Under the same programme, the Food Corporation of India (FCI) distributes fortified rice across the country. The export marks a significant step in linking India’s nutrition mission to the global platform.
APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev said the export of fortified rice highlights India’s agricultural strength and its commitment to combating malnutrition. He assured that APEDA will continue to support exporters in expanding into new international markets.
Chhattisgarh Rice Exporters Association President Mukesh Jain said that more exports of FRK to other countries are planned in the coming months. He also expressed gratitude to APEDA for its support.
Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK) is produced by blending rice flour with essential nutrients such as iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12. It is then mixed with regular rice to enhance its nutritional value.
