Udaipur Kiran, Jaipur, 2 January – A week after the stone-pelting incident in Chomu, Rajasthan, the municipal council has taken strict action. On Friday morning, under heavy police security, bulldozers were deployed near the site of the incident.
In Pathan Mohalla of Chomu, which falls under the rural area of Jaipur, the municipal council had issued notices to several people regarding illegal constructions. They were given time until 31 December to remove encroachments and respond to the notices. Two days later, on Friday, municipal teams arrived at the location with several machines and began removing the illegal structures.
To maintain law and order, a strong police force was deployed under the leadership of DCP Hanuman Prasad Meena. SHO Pradeep Sharma stated that this was an action by the municipal council against illegal constructions. The council had requested police support, following which a team was stationed at the site.
It is noteworthy that on the night of 25 December, near the bus stand area and close to a mosque, stones that had been lying there for years were removed with mutual consent. However, shortly after, one party attempted to install iron railings, leading to a dispute between two groups.
The conflict escalated into heavy stone pelting, creating a tense situation in Chomu. Considering the severity of the matter, a large police contingent reached the spot and took immediate action to restore peace. Following this incident, the administration identified illegal constructions and issued notices against shops operating without permission in the area.
