Kolkata, May 1: The assembly elections in West Bengal, governed by the Trinamool Congress (TMC), have concluded, with political parties now awaiting the results on May 4. In this context, the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Samik Bhattacharya, asserted on Friday that the TMC government is coming to an end and a BJP government is on the horizon.
Speaking to reporters, Bhattacharya targeted Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for questioning the impartiality of the Election Commission. He stated, “The public is tired of watching this drama. It is time for something new. Mamata Banerjee is unable to accept that she is leaving power. A double-engine government of the BJP is being formed under the leadership of Narendra Modi, from Gangotri to Gangasagar. This is inscribed on the forehead of time, which no one can erase.”
He added, “For the first time, a government of Syama Prasad Mukherjee is being formed on his own land. We just need to wait a little longer. The elections were held a long time ago. The people of West Bengal have decided that they will not allow Mamata Banerjee to return under any circumstances. People even came from Finland to vote in West Bengal. The TMC government is gone.”
The BJP leader acknowledged the challenges ahead, stating, “The TMC has made many changes in society over the past 15 years. Corruption is rampant at every level. The drama they are currently performing is merely practice, as they will have to return to reality. They have enjoyed power for 15 years; now they will have to face the sun, which they are currently practicing for.”
Regarding Banerjee’s release of a video, Bhattacharya remarked, “Mamata Banerjee was not born into a prominent Congress family. She has a history of struggle. Rising from the ground, she became a cabinet minister and eventually the Chief Minister of the state. She has faced many adversities throughout her life. Therefore, she knows the scent of the soil. She can see the future; she knows that it is not her government, but her party that is leaving. This is why she stated from the stage, ‘If the TMC remains, then we will see.’ If anyone understands the elections in West Bengal the most, it is Mamata Banerjee.”
