Baloch Activist Exposes Pakistans Double Standards on Human Rights

Quetta, May 1: Baloch human rights activist Mir Yar Baloch has launched a scathing attack on Pakistan, claiming to expose its “double standards” and “false propaganda.” He dismissed comments made by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry regarding a recent protest at Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi, labeling them as part of a smear campaign.

The remarks from Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Tahir Andrabi, came during a weekly press briefing following a protest linked to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

In response, Mir Yar Baloch stated that Pakistan, which deprives Baloch students of educational opportunities, has no right to lecture a democratic nation like India. He emphasized that students in India enjoy access to educational institutions, freedom of expression, and the right to open debate, while Pakistan detains both students and books in Balochistan.

On social media platform X, he wrote, “India provides students with books, while Pakistan detains students along with their books in Balochistan. India allows students to study, but Pakistan has closed our institutions.”

He shared videos alleging that Pakistani security forces have imposed bans on Baloch literature, restricting access to books in bookstores and campuses. He claimed that Pakistani intelligence agencies, military, and administration seize books, preventing students in Balochistan’s educational institutions from reading, and that students are arrested from various campuses.

Mir Yar Baloch declared that Pakistan has been exposed as one of the most deceitful countries in the world. He referenced a 2019 incident where alleged hidden cameras were placed in female restrooms at Balochistan University, calling it a severe violation of human rights.

He accused Pakistan of arbitrarily detaining thousands of Baloch students and youth, subjecting them to torture, and causing numerous deaths, leading to an atmosphere of fear and mourning among families.

He stated, “Where criminal gangs and drug mafias roam freely, any Baloch youth who raises a pen or voice is immediately targeted. They are arrested, silenced, or killed.”

Mir Yar Baloch also accused Pakistan of targeting educational institutions and civilians beyond its borders, citing missile attacks on Sayyid Jamaluddin University in Afghanistan’s Kunar province, which resulted in casualties among students.
