Udaipur, June 5, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran) : A property dealer has filed a police complaint against Vijay Velavat of Meenakshi Property and his associates, alleging that they cheated him of ₹84 lakh by selling government grazing land while claiming it was legally transferable land.
According to police, Jitendra, son of Jagdish Chandra Menaria and resident of Sanwariya Estate, Paneriyon Ki Madri, Sector 6, lodged the complaint at Hiran Magri police station. He alleged that Vijay Lal Velavat of Meenakshi Property, based at Reti Stand, showed him a land parcel at Kaya, describing it as SDO-converted agricultural land and presenting related documents. The deal was finalized for ₹2.25 crore.
The complainant stated that he paid an advance of ₹4 lakh in January 2026 through cash and cheque. On February 19, two sale agreements were executed with khatedars and pattadars identified as Shankar Lal, Dhuli, Badrilal, Poona, Bhuri Lal and Ruplal Soni. He subsequently paid ₹50 lakh through cash and cheque, taking the total payment to ₹54 lakh, after which possession of the land was handed over.
Jitendra further alleged that he spent ₹30 lakh on developing the land. Later, he came to know that the land was government grazing land.
According to the complaint, when he contacted Vijay Velavat and his associates regarding the matter, they denied responsibility. He then approached Meenakshi Property employees Abhimanyu Chaudhary, Kanhaiya Nath and Prahlad Darji, along with Bhurilal Meghwal, Ruplal Soni, Shantilal Jain and Sugan Singh, but they allegedly kept delaying the matter.
The complainant stated that on May 7, Vijay Velavat, Abhimanyu Chaudhary, Kanhaiya Nath, Prahlad Darji, Bhurilal Meghwal, Ruplal Soni, Shantilal Jain and Sugan Singh Chauhan were called to his office for discussions. During the meeting, they allegedly acknowledged that the wrong land had been sold and assured him that another land parcel would be registered in his name within 10 days and that his money would be returned.
However, the complainant alleged that the accused are no longer answering phone calls and are not meeting him despite repeated attempts. He claimed that he has paid around ₹84 lakh and was cheated through the sale of government land.
