New Delhi, 29 December. Justice is yet to be served in the murder case of independent candidate Sharif Usman Hadi in Bangladesh. Hadi’s supporters and activists from the Inquilab Manch have expressed their anger against Yunus Government. The Inquilab Manch and affiliated groups staged protests across Bangladesh.
The Inquilab Manch has pressured the Government to complete the trial related to Hadi’s murder within 24 days. Alongside this, the Manch has put forward three demands.
Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of the Inquilab Manch, issued a 24-day ultimatum to the interim Government of Yunus from Shahbagh, Dhaka, on Sunday night. He stated, “The entire killing squad, including killers, masterminds, accomplices, those who helped in escape, and those who gave shelter, must face trial within the next 24 days.”
Additionally, the Inquilab Manch has demanded suspension of work permits for Indians residing in Bangladesh. Jaber said, “To protect the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh, work permits of Indians should be suspended.”
They further demanded that if India refuses to send back the guilty refugees, a case should be filed against it in the International Court. They also called for identification of collaborators with fascists within civil and military intelligence.
Inquilab Manch activists, supporters, and affiliated groups blocked roads during protests at various locations in Bangladesh. Traffic was disrupted in several areas. Demonstrators simultaneously blocked main highways and intersections in Dhaka’s Shahbagh, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Gazipur, Barishal, and Comilla. In Chattogram, protesters occupied the Notun Bridge intersection under Bakalia Police Station, halting traffic from 2:00 pm onwards.
The blockade affected the city’s vital transport hub connecting southern Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, and Bandarban. Jaber announced the end of the day’s blockade program on his terms and ultimatum. Inquilab Manch leader Burhan Noman informed the media about this.
Earlier, the Inquilab Manch had accused Yunus Government of orchestrating Hadi’s murder. The Manch claimed that Yunus Government wanted to delay elections in Bangladesh, which led to Hadi’s killing.
