Kolkata, August 2 (Udaipur Kiran) – In the West Bengal ration scam case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Trinamool Congress leader Anisur Rahman and his brother Alif Noor alias Mukul Rahman. On Thursday morning, both appeared at the ED office located at CGO Complex for questioning. After 14 hours of interrogation, they were arrested late at night. They are scheduled to be presented in court today.
Previously, the ED had also arrested the state’s former Food Minister Jyotipriyo (Balu) Malik and his close associate businessman Bakibur Rahman in connection with the same case. Around noon on Thursday, Anisur and Alif arrived at the CGO Complex with some documents. Many journalists questioned Anisur about these documents, but he refused to comment. He was also asked about Jyotipriyo and Barik Biswas, but he avoided answering. After a lengthy interrogation, both were arrested around 2:00 AM.
It is noteworthy that the ED had begun raiding various locations in the state related to the ration scam since Tuesday morning. The central investigation agency raided several rice mills in North and South 24 Parganas, including Alif’s house and rice mill in Deganga. Additionally, the ED raided Barik’s flat in Rajarhat, where over nine hours of searching led to the recovery of 2 million rupees. The rice mill owned by Barik was also raided. During the raid at Barik’s house and rice mill, another team reached Alif’s house and rice mill in Deganga. After approximately 21 hours of searching, two mobile phones, several documents, and 1.3 million rupees were seized from Alif’s house.
Following this, Barik and the Rahman brothers were summoned to appear at the CGO Complex. Anisur and Alif appeared as required on Thursday and were arrested late at night.
