Jodhpur, October 31 (Udaipur Kiran): Acting on inputs from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) conducted simultaneous raids across several districts in Rajasthan on Friday morning and detained five suspects, including three clerics (maulvis). According to sources, two of the clerics are brothers, and the suspects are believed to have possible links to an international terror funding network.

ATS Inspector General Vikas Kumar confirmed that five individuals have been rounded up from different locations, including one from Jaipur. He said the suspects are being questioned, and further details will be shared after initial interrogation. Following the arrests of three suspects in Jodhpur division, search operations continued in Jodhpur and Pipar areas in coordination with central and local agencies.
Sources indicated that more individuals connected to the detained suspects are under intelligence surveillance. Preliminary questioning at the Jodhpur ATS outpost reportedly revealed additional names, prompting searches at identified religious institutions and houses suspected of hosting external tenants.
Raids Conducted in Multiple Districts
The ATS took Maulvi Ayub Ghaffar from Arabia Madrasa in Chokha, Jodhpur, into custody. Another cleric, Maulvi Masood, was detained from a madrasa in Pipar, while Maulvi Usman was picked up from a madrasa in Sanchore (Jalore district). Masood and Usman are brothers. Several documents were seized during the raids, though officials have not made any formal confirmation.
Picked Up During Early Morning Raid
Relatives of Maulvi Ayub Ghaffar said over 20 plainclothes officers arrived early in the morning after allegedly surveying the house the previous night. Around 4 a.m., Ayub was taken from his home while asleep. The team reportedly seized documents and sealed his room. His family claimed they were not informed about the reason for his detention. Residents described Ayub as a long-time resident of Bombay Quarters Colony, known for leading prayers at the local mosque and running a madrasa.
One More Detained from Karauli
In Karauli district, a young man named Junaid was also detained from Dholikhar locality. The ATS team reportedly acted with the assistance of the local police, though no official statement has been released by local authorities.
Agencies Probe International Links
The sudden early morning raids caused panic in local communities. All detained suspects were taken to the Jodhpur ATS office and later transported to Jaipur for further interrogation. Security agencies are now investigating their international connections, analyzing seized documents containing coded messages and foreign contact numbers. Officials are also scrutinizing their bank accounts, call records, and social media activities as part of the ongoing investigation.
