Hyderabad, March 11 : Telangana Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy informed the Assembly on Friday that the state government will strengthen the school education system by investing Rs 7289.54 crore in three phases. Replying to questions raised by the members of the house during the question hour, Sabitha said a total number of 26,065 students are studying in Government schools—Primary, Upper Primary and High Schools– in the state. Keeping in view of the future of students and providing quality education to them, the state government has decided to strengthen the school education system by improving its infrastructure including toilets with running water facility, Electrification, drinking water supply, furniture for students & staff, Painting of entire school, Major & Mini repairs, Green chalk boards, compound walls, Kitchen sheds, new class rooms in place of dilapidated class rooms, dining halls in high schools and digital classrooms in high schools by investing Rs 7289.54 crore, the Minister said. She said, in the first phase, it was decided to improve infrastructure in 9,123 high strength schools by investing Rs 3,492 crore. The District Collector and District in-charge Minister would monitor the scheme. With the initiative of the government like providing free books, form and mid-day meals, over three lakh students were newly enrolled in the Government schools this year, the Minister said that the government was developing the government schools on par with the private schools.
