Udaipur, March 20 (Udaipur Kiran): The Orthopedic Department of Pacific Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Umarda, has achieved another significant milestone by successfully performing a reverse shoulder replacement surgery.

Chairman Ashish Agarwal informed that the advanced surgery was conducted on a 68-year-old patient, providing relief from long-standing shoulder pain and restricted arm movement. The patient had been suffering from severe shoulder pain and difficulty in lifting the arm for a considerable period.
During examination, it was found that the patient’s rotator cuff was severely damaged, leading to difficulty in performing even routine activities. The complex and advanced procedure was successfully carried out by Orthopedic and Sports Injury Surgeon Dr. Shashank Ranka along with his expert team.
Post-surgery, the patient’s condition is stable, and continuous improvement in shoulder function is being observed.
Dr. Ranka stated that reverse shoulder replacement is an advanced surgical procedure recommended for patients with severely damaged rotator cuffs who do not benefit from conventional treatments. The surgery helps in relieving pain and improving shoulder mobility.
According to the hospital management, this achievement marks an important milestone for the Orthopedic Department of PIMS, further strengthening the availability of advanced shoulder surgeries in the region and ensuring access to modern healthcare services for patients.
