Bokaro, March 5: A shocking incident has unfolded in Bokaro district of Jharkhand, where the bodies of a young couple were discovered hanging from a tree, sending shockwaves through the local community. The grim discovery was made in Murpa village under the Chatro Chatti police station area on Thursday, where villagers spotted the two bodies suspended from the same tree.
Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. The deceased have been identified as Savitri Kumari from Murpa village and Phoolchand Manjhi, a resident of Dumaria Tand village in the Hazaribagh district.
Preliminary reports suggest that the couple had been in a romantic relationship for a long time and were eager to get married. They had been pressuring their families to approve of their union. However, both families had requested some time for the marriage, suggesting it could take place in about a year.
It is believed that the couple was disheartened by this delay. Reports indicate that they had left their homes on Tuesday, a day before Holi, under the pretext of attending the Sarhul Mela. After failing to return, their families searched for them for two days without any leads.
The bodies were found hanging from a tree near Murpa village, and local residents informed the police. Before the police arrived, the villagers had already brought the bodies down. The police later took the bodies into custody for post-mortem examination. The incident has cast a pall of grief over the village.
Police officials have stated that, at first glance, the case appears to be a suicide. However, investigations are ongoing, and all aspects are being considered. The exact cause of death will be clarified once the post-mortem report is available.
