JAIPUR, March 23, 2025 – In line with the Shivira Panchang and the shift to the summer academic schedule, all government and recognized private schools in Rajasthan will adopt revised school timings starting April 1.

As temperatures continue to rise across the state, the Department of Education has officially announced the change to ensure that students avoid exposure to peak afternoon heat.
Revised Timings from April 1
According to the new directive:
-
Single-shift schools will function from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
-
Double-shift schools will operate between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, with each shift lasting 5.5 hours.
These changes apply to all government and recognized private schools operating across Rajasthan.
Relief from Harsh Summer Heat
The early morning start is aimed at safeguarding students and staff from the sweltering afternoon heat, allowing students to return home before the hottest part of the day.
Currently, schools are following the winter schedule, but this will automatically transition as per the academic calendar beginning April 1. The shift is a routine seasonal adjustment designed to enhance comfort and ensure safety during the summer months.
Implementation Across the State
The change in school timings will be implemented uniformly across Rajasthan, and school administrations have been directed to update their schedules accordingly. Parents are advised to make necessary adjustments to their children’s daily routines to align with the new timing.
The move has been widely welcomed by both parents and educators, recognizing the importance of adapting to climatic conditions to maintain student well-being and academic productivity.
