At the same event, Google announced that the new Samsung Galaxy S24 series will use the company’s Gemini base model to enhance its artificial intelligence capabilities. Gemini Pro will be integrated into some Samsung apps to improve functionality.
Notably, Samsung’s note-taking, voice recorder, and keyboard apps on the Galaxy S24 series will use Gemini Pro to provide better compression capabilities.
According to Google, thanks to Gemini artificial intelligence developments, a lecture can be recorded with a voice recording application, so a summary of the lesson can also be prepared. Likewise, Google Image 2’s advanced text-to-image technology brings generative image editing capabilities to the Galaxy S24 Gallery app.
The company also announced that the Galaxy S24 series will come with the Gemini Nano, a more efficient model for the tasks on the device. This enables the new Google Messages feature and ensures that user data does not leave the smartphone.
Google also confirmed that Samsung will be one of the first partners to test Gemini Ultra, the company’s largest, more complex model, before it becomes available to developers and enterprise customers later this year.
No exact timeline was announced at the event, but Samsung announced that some of the Galaxy S24’s AI features will be carried over to previous-generation Galaxy devices.
Google also announced that the Galaxy S24 series will get the Magic Composites feature thanks to Gemini Nano. Other new AI features in the Galaxy S24 series include Photomoji and Voice Mood.
Google also announced a new Circle to Search and other search features. Select Android devices like the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro and the new Galaxy S24 series will get the new Circle to Search feature starting January 31, 2024.
