Rajsamand, July 20: The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday arrested a junior specialist doctor posted at RK Government Hospital in Rajsamand while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹1,300 from a complainant.
According to ACB officials, the accused, Dr. Pankaj Jain, Junior Specialist (General Surgery) at RK Hospital, had allegedly demanded ₹2,000 for conducting a surgery to remove a cyst near the complainant’s son’s right eye.
Following a complaint, the ACB Rajsamand unit initiated verification proceedings under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General of Police Rameshwar Singh, ACB Udaipur Range. During verification, the doctor allegedly agreed to accept ₹1,800 and had already received ₹500 from the complainant.
Acting on the complaint, an ACB team led by Additional Superintendent of Police Himmat Charan laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the remaining ₹1,300. The previously accepted ₹500 was also recovered during the operation.
The accused has been taken into custody and is being questioned. The ACB has registered a case under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation is underway.
