Rajasthan : RAS Officer Shankarlal Shot Dead in Jaipur; Accused RAC Jawan Surrenders to Police

Jaipur: In a shocking incident in broad daylight, RAS officer Shankarlal was shot dead in Jaipur by his brother-in-law, Ajay Kataria, who is a jawan in the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary (RAC). After the murder, the accused surrendered himself at Phulera police station, where he was immediately taken into custody. The incident has left the officer’s family in deep shock and mourning.

Dispute Over Marriage to Sister

According to police sources, the root of the conflict appears to be a family dispute. Ajay Kataria, the accused, is married to Shankarlal’s sister. The two men had reportedly been at odds over this relationship for some time.

On the morning of the incident, Ajay reportedly arrived at Shankarlal’s residence in a rented vehicle and opened fire on him. Multiple bullets struck the RAS officer, leading to his death on the spot. On receiving information, senior police officers and teams rushed to the scene.

6–7 Rounds Fired, Says Accused

During interrogation, Ajay Kataria revealed to the police that he had fired six to seven rounds, out of which three to four were in the air, while the remaining bullets were fired at Shankarlal, causing fatal injuries. He is a native of Shriramnagar in Phulera (Jaipur Rural) but currently resides in Vikaspuri, Delhi.

Officer Was Posted in Labour Department

RAS officer Shankarlal was serving in the Labour Department in Jaipur. His sudden and violent death has shocked the administrative circle. Preliminary investigation suggests that the motive behind the killing was a long-standing personal and domestic dispute.

Police have started a detailed investigation into the case and are questioning the accused further to gather more evidence and understand the full sequence of events.
