World Teachers’ Day Discussion Held at Shantipeeth, Speakers Stress Teachers’ Role in Guiding Society Positively

Udaipur, October 6 (Udaipur Kiran): A discussion was organised by Shantipeeth Sansthan on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day. Participants from various fields shared their views and said that if the present century is to be made a century of joy, teachers must come forward without hesitation and take responsibility for fulfilling the expectations society has from them.

World Teachers Day

Teachers Must Keep Education Relevant

Dr Shri Krishna Jugnu, a teacher honoured with the President’s Award, said teachers should do something that remains worthy of being read about for centuries and helps several generations move forward.

He said life is one, but it has many dimensions, and every dimension should be inspiring and worth following for everyone. He said teachers need to keep an eye on contemporary circumstances to ensure that teaching and training remain relevant at all times. Such initiatives should be undertaken by everyone, he added.

Speakers Highlight Importance of Teachers

Former Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dinesh Kothari said the day established by the United Nations is not only for teachers, but everyone should stand with them. The world organisation has also expressed such an expectation, he said.

Kothari said that irrespective of the form of government, kings have always paid respect to gurus.

Former IAS officer Sumati Lal Bohra said people build their lives under the guidance of a guru. She said inviting a guru into family life is also considered necessary.

Dr Kamal Singh Rathore said teachers are not limited to teaching the curriculum but also shape the future. In today’s AI and digital era, the role of teachers has become even more important, he said.

Teachers Should Work Independently

Shantipeeth founder Anant Ganesh Trivedi, referring to the saying, ‘Swadeshe Pujyate Raja, Vidwan Sarvatra Pujyate’, said teachers should perform their role as independent thinkers and should not come under any pressure.

He said the ecosystem of society is constantly changing, but teachers have the primary role in continuously guiding it in a positive direction. He said teachers should come forward with courage to unite the positive forces of the world and create an atmosphere of optimism.
