Premium Petrol Push Sparks Consumer Anger in Udaipur

Udaipur, May 19 (Udaipur Kiran) — Several petrol pump customers in Udaipur have alleged that fuel stations are refusing to provide normal petrol and are instead forcing consumers to purchase premium fuel variants such as “Speed” petrol.

According to local consumers, many petrol pumps are reportedly informing customers that regular petrol is unavailable and only premium fuel can be filled. The issue has triggered resentment among vehicle owners due to the significantly higher price of premium fuel.

A consumer claimed that he was compelled to fill “Speed” petrol at a fuel station on Madri Road after being denied normal petrol. He said the premium fuel was priced at around Rs 119 per litre.

The allegations have raised concerns among consumers regarding transparency in fuel sales and availability of regular petrol at retail outlets. Customers have demanded clarity from petrol pump operators over whether normal petrol stocks are genuinely unavailable or if premium fuel is being promoted compulsorily.

Consumers have also urged oil companies and local authorities to look into the matter and ensure that customers are given the option to choose fuel according to their preference and budget.
