Udaipur: Prashant Agrawal, president of Narayan Seva Sansthan, highlighted important life values and practical lessons through inspiring stories related to Lord Ganesha during the ongoing ‘Apno Se Apni Baat’ discourse on Wednesday.
He spoke about the importance of sacrifice, forgiveness, time, and respect and service towards parents, describing these as important lessons for life.
A Lesson on the Value of Time
Narrating the episode of Ravana receiving the Atma Linga from Lord Shiva, Agrawal said Ravana had been instructed not to place the Atma Linga on the ground during his journey.
At dusk, Ravana asked a child to hold the Atma Linga for some time. Lord Ganesha, appearing in the form of the child, had already made it clear that if the weight became too much, he would call Ravana three times and, if there was no response, place the Atma Linga on the ground.
Ravana could not return in time, and the Atma Linga was placed on the ground. Agrawal said the episode shows how even a small delay can lead to major consequences. Therefore, time and circumstances should never be taken lightly in life.
Parents Represent the Greatest Pilgrimage
Through the story of the Modak of Knowledge, Agrawal explained the importance of respecting and serving parents.
He said Goddess Parvati asked Ganesha and Kartikeya to return after visiting all the pilgrimage sites. While Kartikeya left on the pilgrimage, Ganesha circumambulated his parents seven times and said that parents represent the entire world and all pilgrimage sites.
Pleased with his understanding and devotion, the Modak of Knowledge was given to Ganesha.
Agrawal said it is important to understand that true knowledge is not found only in books and journeys but also in fulfilling one’s duties and respecting relationships.
He said the stories of Lord Ganesha teach that sacrifice makes a person greater, recognising the value of time opens the path to success, and serving parents is one of life’s greatest values.
During the discourse, Agrawal interacted with persons with disabilities and also shared information about the couples who will participate in the mass marriage ceremony scheduled for September 19 and 20.
