Addressing a programme organized by the BJP in Mumbai, he said India remembers the Emergency as a dark period during which every institution was subverted and an atmosphere of fear was created. Prime Minister Modi’s message on was a positive one.

He said that it was his government that began the celebration of Constitution Day on 26th November.
He contrasted this with what he called the Congress party’s self and family serving politics.
He said that ‘Emergency’ was a classic example of how the ‘Constitution of India’ could be abused to fulfill the wishes of ‘one family’.
He accused the Congress of creating a false atmosphere of fear for selfish reasons.
All in all, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated his commitment to upholding democracy and the constitution in letter and spirit.
