The deceased have been identified as Rajesh Kumar (50), a resident of Kurji Chashma Gali; Sanjay Kumar Sinha (55) from Patelnagar; Kamal Kishore (38) from Patna; Prakash Chaurasia (35), originally from Samastipur but residing in Patna; and Sunil Kumar (38), originally from Muzaffarpur and also living in Patna.

According to Rajesh Kumar’s brother, all of them had gone to Fatuha for business purposes and were returning to Patna via the Bihta-Sarmera Road when the accident occurred. Rajesh Kumar owned a reputed agro agency in Patna with a wide network across nearby districts. The other victims were also engaged in business activities in the same sector.

Parsa police station in-charge Menka Rani said that as soon as information was received, a police team rushed to the spot. The bodies were recovered in a rescue operation and sent to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for post-mortem. The police were able to inform the families after a call came on one of the victims’ mobile phones.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the Maruti Grand Vitara car was moving at very high speed, while the truck was either moving slowly or parked on the roadside. The impact was so sudden and powerful that the driver could not apply the brakes in time.

Local residents said similar accidents have occurred earlier on the Patna-Gaya-Dobhi four-lane stretch due to haphazard truck parking, lack of road signage, and overspeeding vehicles at night.

The station in-charge added that at first glance, the accident appears to have been caused in a split second while both vehicles were on the move. However, the exact cause will be confirmed after examining nearby CCTV footage.
