Guwahati, May 12: Himanta Biswa Sarma, the newly appointed Chief Minister of Assam, announced on Monday the names of four MLAs who will take oath as ministers alongside him on Tuesday. Senior BJP leader Ranjit Das has been chosen as the NDA candidate for the Speaker position in the Assam Assembly.
In a social media post, Sarma shared that former Union Minister Rameshwar Teli, Assam Gana Parishad (AGP) President Atul Bora, United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) leader Charan Boro, and senior BJP leader Ajanta Neog will be sworn in as ministers in the new cabinet.
Sarma expressed his happiness in announcing that these four colleagues will take their oaths in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also confirmed that Ranjit Das will be the ruling NDA’s candidate for the Speaker of the newly formed Assembly.
While congratulating the leaders, Sarma emphasized that the new team will work together for the development and prosperity of the state. He stated, “My heartfelt congratulations and best wishes. We will all work diligently for a strong, more developed, and prosperous Assam.”
The oath-taking ceremony for Assam’s new government will take place on Tuesday in Khanapara, Guwahati, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Shah, and several Chief Ministers and senior NDA leaders from across the country.
