Kota, February 13 (Udaipur Kiran): A NEET aspirant from Madhya Pradesh allegedly died by suicide in Kota, once again bringing focus on student deaths in the coaching hub.
The deceased has been identified as Juhi Patel, a resident of Chhatarpur district in Madhya Pradesh. She had come to Kota nearly three months ago to prepare for the medical entrance examination NEET. She was staying in a PG accommodation in the Basant Vihar area and was attending online classes from a private coaching institute while doing self-study.
According to police, Juhi allegedly consumed a poisonous substance on Thursday evening. After her health deteriorated, the landlord and local acquaintances rushed her to a private hospital. However, doctors could not save her.
Dadabari Police Station officer Baldev Ram said that the family members were informed about the incident. After their arrival, a post-mortem was conducted at the mortuary of Keshav Medical College Hospital, and the body was handed over to the family. Police are investigating the matter.
Juhi’s father, Arjun Patel, said that he was in regular contact with his daughter and she had not mentioned any kind of stress. He added that the family reached Kota from Madhya Pradesh as soon as they received information about the incident.
A local acquaintance, Gaurav Sharma, said that Juhi had called him on Thursday evening asking for ₹100, which he gave her. Later at night, he received a call from her brother informing him that her health had deteriorated. He and the landlord then took her to the hospital.
At the hospital, Juhi reportedly told medical staff that she had consumed a poisonous substance. Despite efforts to save her, she could not survive.
