MP Mannalal Rawat Demands Renaming of Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station to Rana Sanga Railway Station

Letter Sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw

Udaipur, April 30Udaipur MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat has formally requested the Central Government to rename Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station (NZM) in New Delhi to Rana Sanga Railway Station. The proposal was made via a written appeal addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Rana Sanga Railway Station

In his letter, Dr. Rawat emphasized that Train No. 12963/64 Mewar Express, which connects Udaipur (Rajasthan) to Hazrat Nizamuddin Station, is a significant railway link between Mewar and the national capital. He stated that renaming the station would be a symbolic tribute to the valor and patriotism of Maharana Sanga, one of India’s most revered historical figures.

Honouring Mewar’s Warrior King and Cultural Legacy

Dr. Rawat highlighted Mewar’s historical importance as a land of courage and sacrifice. He noted that Maharana Sanga, the legendary 16th-century Rajput ruler, is remembered for his resistance against foreign invaders and his heroic efforts to protect the sovereignty of India. Despite sustaining over 80 battle wounds, Rana Sanga led multiple campaigns in defense of the motherland.

The MP cited the government’s vision for “Amrit Kaal” (2022–2047), a period aimed at rejuvenating India’s rich cultural and historical heritage. According to Dr. Rawat, naming the station after Rana Sanga would align with this national objective and serve as a symbol of patriotism, bravery, and sacrifice for future generations.

Appeal to Honour a National Hero

Dr. Rawat urged the Centre to consider the renaming proposal positively, stating that such a gesture would be a meaningful gift to the people of Rajasthan and a befitting recognition of Mewar’s contributions to Indian history.

He called Rana Sanga a “national hero whose life epitomized courage and selflessness,” and argued that associating his name with a key railway hub in the national capital would reinforce national pride and historical consciousness.
