Udaipur, October 7 (Udaipur Kiran): Hindustan Zinc Limited has recorded a significant shift in the way metals are bought and sold, with its digital platform Vedanta Metal Bazaar (VMB) registering more than 50 percent year-on-year growth in transaction value during the first half of financial year 2026-27. The growth reflects the increasing preference among industries for faster, transparent and technology-driven procurement processes.
The digital platform of Hindustan Zinc, India’s largest integrated zinc producer, is making metal discovery, price information and the purchasing process easier and more transparent for customers. VMB has now reached customers in more than 500 cities across 23 states.
Digital Procurement Gains Momentum
Hindustan Zinc CEO Armendu Prakash said the rapid growth of India’s manufacturing sector requires not only reliable access to raw materials but also smarter and more efficient procurement processes.
“Through Vedanta Metal Bazaar, we are making metal procurement simpler, more transparent and accessible to everyone. MSMEs, in particular, are benefiting significantly from the platform. The combination of digital technology and our reliable supply capabilities is making it easier for customers to do business and creating a modern procurement system for the future,” he said.
Launched in 2022, Vedanta Metal Bazaar is described as India’s first online metal marketplace. The platform allows customers to view live prices, place orders and manage the entire procurement process digitally. Ledger reconciliation can also be completed digitally, further simplifying the process.
During the first half of FY 2026-27, the number of digital transactions on the platform also increased by more than 40 percent.

VMB brings product selection, real-time prices linked to international markets, order booking, payments, billing, dispatch planning and shipment tracking together on a single platform.
The zinc and lead pricing features available on VMB provide customers with market-based and transparent price information. This enables MSMEs and small buyers to purchase metals at competitive prices.
Hindustan Zinc offers a range of products through the platform, including Special High Grade Zinc, High Grade Zinc, low-carbon green zinc EcoZen, Prime Western Zinc, Continuous Galvanising Grade Zinc, High Grade Jumbo Zinc, Alloy 3 and Alloy 5. The company also offers Special High Grade Lead.
