MCX Gains Nearly 2% After Launching Options on MCX BULLDEX Index

Mumbai, October 27 (Udaipur Kiran): Shares of Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) surged nearly 2% in early trade on Monday after the exchange launched Options contracts on the MCX iCOMDEX Bullion Index (MCX BULLDEX), further expanding its product portfolio in the precious metals derivatives segment.

The stock was trading at ₹9,186.60, up ₹169.30 or 1.88%, compared to its previous close of ₹9,017.30 on the BSE. It opened at ₹9,017.00 and touched an intraday high of ₹9,244.90 and low of ₹8,981.00. Around 17,285 shares were traded on the counter so far.

A BSE Group ‘A’ stock with a face value of ₹10, MCX has recorded a 52-week high of ₹9,612.40 (October 15, 2025) and a 52-week low of ₹4,410.10 (March 11, 2025). The company’s market capitalization currently stands at ₹46,918.50 crore.

In terms of shareholding, institutions hold 79.48%, while non-institutions own 20.52% of the company’s equity.

The newly introduced Options on MCX BULLDEX provide market participants with a versatile risk management tool that combines the strength of diversified underlying assets — Gold and Silver Futures — with the flexibility of Options trading. The index offers a balanced exposure to the bullion market, allowing both investors and institutions to manage their investment and hedging strategies more efficiently.

MCX stated that this launch is part of its broader objective to deepen India’s commodity markets through product innovation, transparency, and investor-friendly initiatives. The exchange highlighted that index-based Options are globally popular for sectoral price risk management, and the MCX BULLDEX index adheres to the IOSCO Principles for Financial Benchmarks (July 2013) in both computation and governance.
