Disa, Gujarat — April 1, 2025 | A major tragedy struck Gujarat’s Banaskantha district on Monday morning after a massive explosion occurred at a firecracker factory warehouse located in the GIDC industrial area on Dhunva Road in Disa. Initial reports suggest at least five workers are feared dead, with the death toll potentially rising as rescue operations continue.

Deadly Fire Erupts After Blast
According to eyewitnesses, a powerful explosion rocked the Deepak Traders Agency, a firecracker manufacturing unit, early in the morning. The explosion reportedly occurred due to ignition of highly flammable substances stored in the factory’s warehouse. The fire spread rapidly, engulfing the premises in flames and smoke.
Rescue operations are ongoing, with multiple firefighting units from the Disa Municipality deployed to bring the blaze under control. Ambulances and local police forces were also swiftly mobilized to assist victims and secure the area.
Casualties and Rescue Efforts
Authorities fear that at least five workers have died in the incident. Several more are believed to be injured or trapped, although an official confirmation is awaited. The factory was reportedly in operation when the explosion took place, raising concerns about safety compliance and fire hazard preparedness.
Former Disa MLA Shashikant Pandya, who arrived at the scene, confirmed that “rescue teams are working intensively to control the situation.” He also assured that strict legal action will be taken if any illegal storage or manufacturing activity is found during the investigation.
Investigation Underway
Local law enforcement officials have launched a preliminary inquiry into the incident. The origin of the blast, possible violations of safety norms, and licensing irregularities will be central to the investigation.
The Gujarat government is expected to issue an official statement soon. Meanwhile, authorities have sealed off the area and evacuated nearby establishments as a precautionary measure.
